Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 Race Report
28/04/2008
Just seven days after Danica Patrick's historic first IndyCar Series victory in Japan, series veteran Dan Wheldon celebrated a win at the Kansas Speedway on Sunday 27 April, his first since taking the chequered flag at the circuit a year ago.

It was the former IndyCar Series champion’s 14th career victory, giving the driver greater confidence as the series heads to next month’s Indianapolis 500, a race that Wheldon won in 2005.  Patrick’s race however was not so lucky, as she never got into contention for the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 and finished on the sideline with damage to her car.

Final race results saw Target Chip Ganassi drivers Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon finishing in first and third position respectively, with Andretti Green Racing’s Tony Kanaan splitting the pair.

Dan Wheldon - #10 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, said:
“With the pace of the race, we certainly needed a lot of grip underneath us, and certainly the Firestone Firehawks provided that.  It was a very difficult race, and a challenge for the tyres, but like always, they stood up very well.”

Joe Barbieri - Manager, Firestone Racing, said:
“It was great to see 27 IndyCar Series cars running around Kansas Speedway on Firestone Firehawk tyres today.  Our superspeedway tyre specification seemed to perform even a little better here than it did earlier this season at Homestead.  With the full field, cars were running two and three wide throughout the race.  It’s great to see that drivers have enough confidence in the grip their Firestone Firehawks are providing them that they feel comfortable running that closely at more than 210 mph, lap after lap.”
